The unstoppable increase in new technologies requires computing resources with security and low latency. For this reason, the Multi-Access Edge Computing framework continues to be developed and standardised with the ETSI MEC efforts. The architecture has evolved over the years including new technologies such as NFV and SDN, but the migration process continues to be a great challenge. This document discusses the standardisation of the NFV-based ETSI MEC architecture and the new studies and procedures that should be aligned accordingly. We show that while the main body is still focused on initial placement optimisation only, for highly mobile environments the latest advances are introducing predictive decisions to define an end-to-end migration that sustains the low latency requirements.
