SERRANO Hardware System Simulator in HPC and in Edge and Cloud Environments

Until recently, High Performance Computing (HPC) and Edge and Cloud environments have developed fairly independently of each other due to the different scaling and computational resource requirements. However, the growing demand for greater efficiency in the use of the resources, both on supercomputers and in the edge and cloud, points out that HPC and cloud system architectures face comparable challenges.The SERRANO project brings together experts from both fields to solve common problems. This paper presents the ongoing work on one of the future components of the SERRANO platform from the HPC perspective, namely the Hardware System Simulator module. With this module we intend to increase the efficiency of the resource management in HPC as well as in Edge and Cloud.
