Study on Combinations of QoS Controls for In-Vehicle Network with IEEE 802.1TSN

This paper evaluates QoS of in-vehicle network with a combination of SPQ, CBS and TAS, which are defined in IEEE 802.1TSN, by simulation. Moreover, the authors perform the QoS evaluation at transport-layer. From the experimental results, the authors show the followings. First, under some cases, TAS can degrade the TCP throughput while CBS can improve it. Second, the amount of the degradation of the TCP throughput for low priority TCP traffic performed by TAS can be larger than that of the improvement made by CBS. From these issues, the authors conclude that CBS should be utilized for improving TCP throughput and TAS shouldn’t.
