Biometric Identification for Advanced Cloud Security

Yojna khandelwal, Kapil Chauhan · 2021

Biometric discovery has become increasingly popular in recent years. Biometric identification is a trusted and efficient way of recognizing users. The on ground practical implementation of protection from the loss, misuse, or theft of biometric data needs an efficient privacy preserving method. Currently, only the house primitive cryptographic algorithms are being used in identification and authorization methods and old existing techniques are prone to many security threats. With the initiation and development of the cloud computing mechanism, database owners are given a chance to outsource large amounts of biometric data and identification tasks to the cloud to avoid the heavy expenses spent in storage and computation costs, which in turn open various channels of data security. This biometric dataset is then encrypted using cryptographic algorithms and deployed to the cloud servers. To recognize biometric data, the database owner authorizes by generating a credential for a user and then, the biometric data is submitted to the cloud server. Deep Learning and Big Data are the two very emerging technologies. The large amount of data gathered by organizations is used for many purposes, like for resolving problems in marketing, medical science, technology, national intelligence, etc. In this current world, old house data processing units are not very efficient to handle, process, or analyze because the collected data is unstructured and very complex. Because of this, Deep Learning algorithms which are fast and efficient in solving the backlogs of traditional algorithms are in use now a days. Biometrics use the pattern recognition technology of Digital Image Processing for identifying unique features in humans. The most commonly applied or considered biometric modalities are fingerprint impression, facial landmarks, iris anatomy, speech recognition, handwriting detection, hand geometry recognition, Finger vein detection, and signature identification. Biometric technology is applied in various fields, security systems being one among them. Biometrics can be effectively applied to eliminate one of the cloud's security issues--identity theft. A wide range of biometric authentication system protocols and implementations in the cloud environment, especially to combat identity theft, have been proposed.
