Monitoring concrete compressive strength using IoT-based wireless sensor network

A structure requires a long service life depending on its use, and the durability can be secured by measuring a concrete compressive strength. As opposed to the existing methods which require on-site measurement, in this paper, we propose a remote monitoring system for concrete compressive strength based on maturity method. The maturity is collected by measuring a temperature through sensor buried in concrete, and the concrete compressive strength is estimated based on it. The collected data is remotely monitored through internet of things (IoT)-based wireless sensor network (WSN). The proposed system can remotely measure the concrete compressive strength without the need for an expert or labor.
