Blending of Programs: Models and Design

Lezley Collier Lewis, Annie Rivera, Debbie Roby · 2021

This chapter elaborates upon the various gifted education program models that currently provide services to the identified gifted population and to present a comprehensive framework with blended program considerations for gifted education services. New approaches to identifying potential candidates for gifted and talented programs inevitably lead to the need for new program service designs that adequately serve CLD students. The widespread team-teach/co-teach service delivery across bilingual, ESL, and special education disciplines raises the question of how such best practices can be blended into gifted program models. In contrast to gifted and talented program models, the various bilingual program models define the goals of the program. Evaluating current services is critical to programmatic development.
