Manual of Information for the Lancaster Parsed Corpus

1. The Lancaster Parsed Corpus is a corpus of British English sentences excerpted from printed publications of the year 1961. The Parsed Corpus is a subset of the Lancaster-Oslo/Bergen Corpus (= LOB Corpus) (see S. Johansson, G. N. Leech and H. Goodluck, Manual of Information to accompany the Lancaster-Oslo/Bergen Corpus of British English, Department of English, University of Oslo, 1978). Each sentence in the Parsed Corpus has undergone a syntactic analysis in the form of a phrase marker, or labelled bracketing, following the scheme of analysis outlined in Part III below.
