The design and development of a simulated gust generator with non-Gaussian statistical properties
R. L. Poulter · 1975
Random noise signals representing atmospheric turbulence are frequently needed in flight simulation. Hitherto, most devices providing such signals have produced a signal with Gaussian statistical properties. Dissatisfaction with simulated turbulence and recent measurements of the real atmosphere have stimulated the construction of a hardware device for producing analogue signals with non-Gaussian statistical properties more akin to what is now known about the atmosphere. This paper describes the design and construction of one such 'non-Gaussian gust generator'.
