Voting teams: a cooperative approach to non-typical problems using genetic programming
Terence Soule · 1999
This paper presents a general approach for evolving cooperative teams to solve problems that are non-typical of team research. Cooperation is achieved by allowing the team members to vote on the solution. In these experiments the even-7-parity problem is used as the test problem. Although the even-7-pariety problem is not typical of team learning, cooperating teams outperformed individuals and used fewer resources. Interestingly, the team members' individual performance is quite poor; the improved performance is only achieved through cooperative voting.
