This report contains a study of the interaction of computer language and machine design. The study centered about the organization of a computer based on a hierarchy of languages which would have built-in automatic programmin . The computer design status, the organization of the computer, the relation of t e language hierarchy in this organization and general unit design are reported. Plans for future work in this area are s ated. The several appendices describe work which is related to the main topic. (Author)
