A Major difficulty of students of high hool geometry is in realizing and apreciating the difference and interrelaonsbip between conclusions reached by ductive procedures, such as measuring, and those reached by deductive procedures. Part of this difficulty tern from are fact that geometric fact and principles are accepted as true on the basis of aductive technique throughout the students' K-8 geometry program. Then suddenly, in high school geometry, students re told that fact and principle can be accepted only on the basi of deductive reasoning. To help students overcome this difficulty, the following laboratory lesson as presented.
