Configural Frequency Analysis under Retrospective and Prospective Sampling Schemes-Frequentist and Bayesian Approaches
Alexander von Eye, Ch Schuster, Eduardo Gutiérrez‐Peña · 2000
Summary, Zusammenfassung Configural Frequency Analysis (CFA) allows researchers to identify types and antitypes relative to some base model. Thus far, only global and regional CFA base models have been distinguished. The implications of sampling schemes for selection of base models have only recently begun to be specified. This article focuses on retrospective sampling. Discrimination CFA is a variant of CFA where retrospective sampling is done. Possible base models are laid out and it is shown that the number of variables observed under a retrospective sampling scheme determines the type of base model. In addition, Bayesian CFA is introduced. Bayesian CFA does not require protection of the test-wise cc , and has more power than standard frequentist CFA, even when used with noninformative priors. Numerical examples illustrate the methods using psychiatric aging data. Key words: Retrospective and Prospective Sampling Schemes; Frequentist CFA, Bayesian CFA, Discrimination CFA unter retrospektiver und prospektiver Datenerhebung frequentistische und Bayes-Ansatze Die (KFA) erlaubt es, Typen and Antitypen relativ zu einem Basismodell zu identifizieren. Schlijsselwbrter: Retrospektive und prospektive Datenerhebung, Frequentistische KFA, Bayes-KFA, Diskriminations-KFA 4 It should be noted, however, that when DCFA is used to discriminate among more than two groups, discrimination types could emerge without discrimination antitypes. This applies accordingly to the emergence of discrimination antitypes (von Eye, Spiel, and Wood, 1996) [Reference] References [Reference] 1. Agresti, A.: Categorical data analysis.
