Compression of Complex Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data

This paper describes new approaches to compress complex SAR data using wavelet transform with thresholding and vector quantisation. The image quality is proved using several parameters. Preliminary results show, that the presented compression technique enables polarimetric and interferometric applications for a compression ratio up to 9.
