A Correlational Analysis of the Statistical Properties of Time-Series Data and Their Relationship to Student Achievment in Resource Classrooms.

Russell J. Skiba, Stanley L. Deno · 1983

ABSTRACT Resource room students (N -68) in grades 177_of 'three rural and suburban Minnesota_school districts participated in a study of time series'data generatqd by a'curriculum-based measurement system. A principalcomponents factor analysis was performed to summarize relationships among the time-series_ properties and properties of.the'measurement system._In addition,_multiple regression analyses were used to identify the relationship of such variables_.to_achievement. Results_indicated that the statistical characteristics of time-series data are not necessarily independent innaturally occurring_ data, and can be used in predicting achievement. Findings had implications in training practitioners in thb,pse and interpretation of measurement systems based on time-series data. (liuthpr/CL)
