Analysis of recent bushfires in Australia, such as Black Saturday in 2009 and the Kimberley Ultramarathon tragedy in 2011, demonstrates that a lack of communications for people on the ground can have dire consequences. Due to the increasing impact of bushfires in recent years, the provision of bushfire information to communities is increasingly important.
