Application of a Multiagent Distributed Architecture for Time Series Forecasting

Albert Prat, Jesús Lorés, Kanapathipillai Sanjeevan, Ignasi Solé, Josep M. Catot · COMPSTAT · 1994

Designing a software system that incorporates expert knowledge to solve complex problems using sophisticated techniques is a difficult task. Additionally, these systems are required to have on-line help and explanation facilities as well as the flexibility of being utilised by users possessing different levels of expertise (from expert to novice). All this functionality has to be integrated with a suitable Graphical User Interface (GUI). In the last few years, important work has been published that discuss the essential and desirable characteristics of such a system (Dodge et al., 1993) and the architecture and methodologies required to develop them (Prat et al., 1993a). Prototypes (Prat et al., 1993b) and high quality commercial systems have appeared that utilise the work done in this area. These systems are known as Knowledge Based Systems (also known as KBFEs and SKBFEs). These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
