The Growth of Modern World and Technology through the Afro American Voices

The enhancement of science and technology has indeed raised the standards of human life. Though literature and science are considered antithetical, it is through the voices of literary giants the issues that are local and global reach a wide range of audience. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a well renowned Afro-American novelist, short story writer, and an author of Man booker prize. Her voice on modern advancements both as a boon and bane to the self and environment is indispensable that one cannot escape without listening to it. Hence, an earnest attempt has been made to unravel the impact of technology on modern life through Adichie’s Americanah. Americanah explores the effect of social media on the growth of technology that resulted in elevating the living standards of the Afro-Americans. Through her female character Ifemelu, the author expresses her views and also destreotypes the African realities and positive social changes through technology. Therefore, this article focuses on how technological and modern advancements have been both beneficial and detrimental to the African world.
