Coherence Constraints for Agent Interaction

Joris Hulstijn, Frank P. M. Dignum, Mehdi M. Dastani · 2005

Abstract. This paper describes the use of coherence constraints as a means to regulate the interactions between agents. These constraints can be used to force e.g. an answer to refer back in a meaningful way to the question that it answers. Coherence constraints can be very general constraints related to the dialogue type but can also be domain specific. We also discuss ways in which the enforcement of coherence constraints can be implemented. Finally we describe a possible implementation in the 3APL platform indicating the feasibility of this form of interaction regulation. 1
