Website-Based Lighting Monitoring System Design in a Laboratory of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara

The B518 room in Universitas Multimedia Nusantara is an introductory physics laboratory. Based on the lighting standards applied in Indonesia, laboratory rooms must have a minimum lighting level of 500 lux. One way to measure the level of lighting in a room is by using a lux meter. However, lux meter is impractical because of the lack of mobility and, the price is relatively high, especially if needed in large quantities. The method used to solve the problem is to create a lighting monitoring system that can be monitored remotely in real-time through a website. The lighting monitoring system uses an LDR sensor which is calibrated with the Environment Meter DT-8820. Based on the data result, the average accuracy of the lighting monitoring system is 88.926% and 89.130% for the average precision rate. The data also can be monitored through the website in real-time using Blogger and an Internet of Things (IoT) platform named ThingsBoard. B518 room has lighting levels between 138 to 308 lux at 25 different positions, so the room is below the lighting standard for the laboratory.
