Modelling of service dependencies in modular process plants for the analysis of orchestrations

Henry Bloch, Alexander Fay · 2021

A recent paradigm of plant design in process industries is modularization and service orientation. In modular process plants the production is controlled by the orchestration of services as encapsulated process functions. These services can depend on each other. To describe these dependencies, a proper modelling is needed. Therefore, a combined modeling approach is presented: modelling in AutomationML allows to integrate the information into the Module Type Package standard, while modeling in Petri nets allows to analyse designed orchestrations with respect to their operability in modular process plants.
