Bushra Tasneem, Madiha Wahid · 2021
With the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices, security threats are becoming more challenging. It is even more thought-provoking to prevent and detect them. Routing Protocol for Low power and lossy network (RPL) has many security problems. To ensure Low power and Lossy Network’s (LLN’s) security, many researchers have worked to detect and mitigate these security problems. In this paper, a survey is conducted related to two major routing attacks, i.e., blackhole, and rank attack. An overview of the RPL network and its security features is presented. Different mitigation methodologies along with their categories and shortcomings are discussed. This work is done for new researchers to get a gist of previous mitigation methodologies and their shortcomings.
