This paper is devoted to the research and comparative analysis of the bio-inspired algorithms of synthesis and optimization of fuzzy control systems, in particular, ant colony optimization and genetic algorithms adapted for automatic rule base synthesis with the determination of optimal consequents for the Mamdani-type fuzzy systems. The studies and comparative analysis are conducted on a specific example, namely, at developing various rule base configurations of the fuzzy control system for the multipurpose mobile robot able to move on inclined and vertical ferromagnetic surfaces. For the quantitative assessment of the effectiveness and comparative analysis of the investigated algorithms, the specialized criteria are introduced. The recommendations for using the presented bioinspired algorithms for synthesis and optimization of fuzzy control systems of various types and dimension are formulated on the basis of obtained research results.
