The article discusses the security issues of using Docker-based containerization technologies and Oracle VM VirtualBox virtualization in automation systems in the light of an exponential rise in the risks of computer attacks from unauthorized users. It was found that in the cloud computing market, there is an increased demand for open platforms for running applications in an isolated environment. Also, that there is a cause and effect relationship between the demand for new technological solutions and the increased level of risks during the deployment of containerization and virtualization technologies. Average values of the probability of a risk event and the scale of losses from the realization of the risk of computer attacks were obtained using the method of normalizing average values. It was shown that Docker-based containerization technology demonstrates higher vulnerability to computer attacks. Assessment of the risk attacks dynamics on systems that use Docker-based containerization technologies and Oracle VM VirtualBox virtualization allowed us to establish a decreasing trend in the Oracle VM VirtualBox vulnerability. Knowledge of these trends makes it possible to develop preventive management decisions that minimize the level of risks of computer attacks in the cloud computing market by implementing the principle of security and reliability.
