Additional Features in Computational Model and Mesh Generations

Pradip Majumdar · 2021

In this chapter, some of the essential features and guidelines for developing computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer codes implementing discretization procedure for control volume/finite difference method. These are also applicable to finite element method described in the subsequent chapters. These important features include guidelines for mesh generation and quality; adapting meshing; multigrid (MG) methods; and initial, inlet, and boundary conditions. A more elaborate description for the types, implementation, restrictions, and challenges on the use of boundary, inlet, and outlet conditions is given. A number of examples are included to describe the mesh quality and meshing schemes. Advanced meshing schemes such as MG Method including Geometric Multigrid and Algebraic Multigrid Method are described.
