Electronic commerce represents the activity of the buying or selling of products through online services over the internet. Therefore, security is an important issue in e-commerce. In this chapter, we discuss the significance of e-commerce followed by a comparative study of traditional commerce and e-commerce. Afterwards, we discuss the prerequisites for security in e-commerce. Further, we discuss the security system and security measures employed in e-commerce. Later on, we discuss various dimensions of security in e-commerce. Further, we discuss various payment systems used in e-commerce.
