A Probability Based Joint-Clustering Algorithm for Application Placement in Fog-to-Cloud Computing

M. Sri Raghavendra, Priyanka Chawla, Y. Narasimhulu · 2021

Internet-of- Things (loT) becomes more prevalent in our lives, and more data-intensive, delay-sensitive, and real-time applications are expected to emerge. Fog computing has been seen as one of the main enablers for running applications. Appropriate service placement is necessary to host the services. The main challenging in choosing placement is to minimize service latency and energy consumption. This paper introduces the probability-based joint-clustering algorithm for clustering the fog nodes based on application requirements, which helps select those fog nodes. The proposed algorithm will allow a node to be included in more than one cluster. The proposed algorithm is compared with K-Means, random-disjoint, and random-joint. The empirical outcomes proofs that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing plans according to response time and energy utilization.
