Ahmed Banafa · River Publishers eBooks · 2023
The Internet of things (IoT) presents numerous benefits to consumers, and has the potential to change the ways in which consumers interact with technology in fundamental ways. IoT devices are poised to become more pervasive in our lives than mobile phones and will have access to the most sensitive personal data, such as social security numbers and banking information, as their numbers are exponentially multiplied. Internet of things security is no longer a foggy future issue, as an increasing number of such devices enter the market, and our lives, from self-parking cars to home automation systems to wearable smart devices. Some security tools will need to be applied directly to the connected devices. Security needs to be built in as the foundation of IoT systems, with rigorous validity checks, authentication and data verification, and all the data need to be encrypted.
