What Is a User Interface?

Michael Wiklund, Erin Davis, Alexandria Trombley, Jacqueline Edwards · 2021

This chapter identifies a user interface as the parts of any device that we see, hear, touch, smell, or taste as the user interface. For example, the user interface of a medical device might include hardware components, software screens, labeling, soundscapes, and more. For the purposes of this book, a user interface does not include internal components, such as a circuit board, motor, or sensor.
