While the Cognitive Services APIs enable developers and data professionals to put a lot of cool technology to work, it’s important to talk about the tools used to develop, test, and operationalize this technology. Before one can dive into the tools, it’s important to talk about the prerequisites necessary to working with the Cognitive Services APIs in development environments, test environments, and production environments. Before we can discuss prerequisites or tools, however, it is important to lay out an intro to Cognitive Services and Machine Learning, which programming languages lend themselves to the best (and easiest) interaction with these APIs. While there are some languages whose interactions with these APIs may best be described with the terms “square peg” and “round hole,” we will walk you through the most common interactions with the Cognitive Services APIs in some frequently seen and used programming languages.
