Track Layouts and the Tracks Screen
Curt Schulkey · 2021
Yet another great feature of the Avid S6 is Track Layouts which, once created, make the presentation of tracks onto the S6 surface fast and simple. Track Layouts are described and defined, and their usage rules are listed. The differences between Track Layouts and Spill Zones are discussed, followed by a description of how Track Layouts are invoked and revoked. Because Track Layouts are created in the Tracks Screen, an understanding of that screen is essential. The Tracks Screen is described in detail, and navigation and filtering of the Track Grid is explored. Some local settings of the Tracks Screen are noted, and the different scrollers are described and illustrated. Tasks of enabling Layout Mode, assigning tracks, and exiting Layout Mode are covered. Layout Sets and the Layout Grid are described and illustrated, along with some preliminary Layout settings, and finally (!) the methods for creating Track Layouts are shown. Instructions on the editing of existing Track Layouts are given. The chapter wraps up by showing a few more uses of the Tracks Screen.
