Role of User Interface Requirements in the Design Process

Michael Wiklund, Erin Davis, Alexandria Trombley, Jacqueline Edwards · 2021

This chapter describes when, during the product development process, manufacturers should define user interface requirements. Specifically, manufacturers should define initial UI requirements based on their initial sense of the product and potentially some user research but then adjust the requirements to reflect new learnings. Additionally, manufacturers should document the rationale for each requirement for continuity between individuals and to facilitate identifying UI requirements for future development efforts.
