Bioinformatics approaches to understanding the MoA of a compound
Jitao David Zhang · 2019
Development of drug candidates from phenotypic drug discovery (PDD) programs can be substantially accelerated from a successful target-identification campaign. And candidates from both PDD and target-based drug discovery (TDD) benefit from a solid and comprehensive Mode-of-Action (MoA) understanding. We will introduce bioinformatics approaches to target identification and Mode-of-Action understanding, including in silico, assay-driven, and omics-driven approaches, with a special focus on how advanced analytics - statistics, bioinformatics, and computational biology - orchestrates technologies, platforms, and databases towards a better understanding of small-molecule, large-molecule, and nucleotide-based drug candidates.
