A Strong means of communication even with the existence of evolved technologies are Handwritten notes. Making a computer to recognize these handwritten notes has major applications in today's world like postal address reading, recognizing pin codes, reading cheques electronically, crime proof, etc. But this field has major challenges as handwritten characters vary from person to person based on the style of handwriting, inclination of characters, clarity, neatness. To address these challenges and recognize handwritten characters of different languages and scripts different research have worked and deduced results. Few of them are reviewed, analyzed, and briefed in this paper. Different scope of future work concerning each work is also discussed here.
