How to Cope with A Plant Closing

Discussed in this paper are approaches through which a community may be ableto ease the adverse impact of a plant closing. These approaches include an activenegotiation with the company in such a way to make the transfer process of displacedworkers less painful, as well as a utilization of the closed plant for other productiveuses. There is no easy or quick way of replacing the closing plant. This paper isintended to provide information that can assist communities in adapting to the closedplant.
