Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages through language or expression or some other medium. Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is a key feature of Internet of Things (IOT), which is a peer to peer communication. It improves overall throughput, spectrum efficiency and resource utilization. Several wireless and wired protocols exist for IOT oriented communication, but we do not have a standard protocol for communication in IOT. And it is unclear that whether the existing protocols are going to fulfill the requirements of heterogeneous networks. This paper gives an overview of protocols for communication in Internet of Things.
