Side-channel attacks are a serious threat in the IoT era. Dual-rail digital circuit design has been proposed to mask side-channel information such as waveforms of power consumption and electromagnetic waves emitted from encryption chips. The dual-rail makes it difficult for the encryption key to leak from the power consumption by equilibrate bit transition of the inputs to the circuit. In this paper, we propose and evaluate novel design that has the similar effect as the dual-rail design, and with a more simple and reasonable circuit. The novel design is called W-FF design. The W-FF design can dramatically improve security performance and achieves all most all area overhead can be eliminated compared with dual-rail design.
