Software maintenance in software engineering has been considered as the modification of a software product. This procedure is taken after delivery in order to correct faults. It is also helping in improving the performance or other attributes. General perception of maintenance is that it is considering and fixing defects. Many studies are presenting that lot of maintenance effort has been utilized during non-corrective actions. Research is considering the existing researches in field of to software maintenance effort along with problem statements. The issues with existing researches are also presented in this research. Research paper is supposed to lay better foundation for upcoming findings in field of software maintenance effort.
