A Brief Discussion of Software Project Management
Karl Cox · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2021
Project management is somewhat like requirements management in terms of long-term usage of the same techniques and tools. A plan is fine but has very little power over the destiny of a project without the team experiencing that process, and without the manager being that great motivator. The requirements might be perfect but the development team needs to be organised, even if this is an agile project where developers can be as close to autonomous as possible. Project management, is solely about managing the construction project to the point where the IT works as it is hoped it would. The problem with this is that it’s relatively straightforward to work out the number of bricks required to build a house, the length of wiring, the number of roof tiles, the plumbing and sewage systems, the doors, windows, house frames and all the rest.
