The Marine Predator algorithm is a nature-inspired optimization algorithm with a simple search mechanism and suffers from a lack of population diversity reduction in the late iteration. In order to enhance population diversity and avoid falling into local optima, we propose a multi-group marine predator algorithm. (MGMPA). In MGMPA, the population is divided into exploitation, equilibrium and exploration populations, and the number of each subpopulation is dynamically controlled. The useful information of populations and individuals is fully utilized through a weighted maximum likelihood estimation strategy. The effectiveness of MGMPA was verified by using several test functions of CEC2104.
