In today's day and age, there is a flood of data related to the patient's healthcare records. With the proliferation of such a vast volume of data on healthcare, it becomes clear that the confidentiality and safety of this kind of confidential data on healthcare is a topic of utmost importance. Computer scientists, engineers, medical doctors, and lawyers all are worried about the security and privacy issues related to healthcare data of patients. This chapter addresses the various acts and statues related to the healthcare data of patients. The chapter also gives a glimpse into how modern internet-connected healthcare devices, such as BANs, which include IoT wrist bands for a pulse, temperature and skin condition monitoring, pacemakers, EEG and ECG devices, and ICU medical devices, contribute to the enormous big healthcare data. Here, we also discuss how different computing paradigms, viz., cloud computing, edge computing, big data analytics, and machine learning models, are making strides in managing this big healthcare data. Finally, this chapter discusses the various problems with the security and privacy of such big healthcare data in regard to its storage methodology, its computing methodology, and its communication modalities and methodology. The chapter primarily reflects on the prevention methods currently in use or being developed for healthcare data security and privacy. To sum up, all applicable techniques relating to the protection and privacy of broad healthcare data are discussed, and a conclusion is drawn based on this thorough review; potential changes and enhancements to the techniques are discussed.
