The Usage of Two Chinese Synonyms for Learners: A Corpus-Based Approach

Based on ToRCH2014 corpus and HUAYU corpus, the Interlanguage Analysis is used to study the frequency, colligation and semantic prosody of two Chinese synonyms, “dăozhì”(‘resulting in’) and “yĭnqĭ”(‘causing’). It is found that learners who take Chinese as a foreign language are different from Chinese native speakers in the frequency of using “yĭnqĭ” and the colligation “yĭnqĭ+clause”, while there is no difference in semantic prosody between native speakers and Chinese learners.
