Virtual Assembling Using Hand Tracking with Leap Motion Controller
Siyi Mu, Alexei Sourin · 2021
The hand tracking device Leap Motion Controller has been applied in many areas since it was released. Two innovative interaction mechanisms were designed by the author for virtual object manipulation, in which collision detection between the virtual hands and the objects is not required. Instead, it controls the grasping and releasing with the gestures of one hand; and controls the direction and amount of the object's displacement with the other hand. After several tests, the mechanisms are proven to have reasonably high precision. They allow the users to adjust the parameters to create customized systems, leading to an optimal outcome.
