Manipulate the Variables Format: Data Types

Before going into the details of the implementation of control schemes on hardware, the reader should be aware of some computational limitation introduced by the exploitation of MCU-based board. One of the main issues is data type management to save memory during computations and to speed them up as well. Thus, this chapter reports some basic notions about representation of numbers in floating- and fixed-point formats as well as some implementation hints.
