Framework and Background1 The manuscript is KAR 267, and it was dated to the 9th of the month Ulūlu, see Section 7.5 and Appendix 1.The date above is calculated on the basis of Parpola's table for converting Assyrian dates into Julian ones (Parpola 1983a: 382).He states the 1st of Ulūlu corresponds to the 23rd of August in the year 658 BCE.The 9th must therefore correspond to the 31st. 2 The manuscripts investigated in this study consist of clay tablets with cuneiform writing.The texts are composed in the artificial literary dialect Standard Babylonian, which was based on the Old Babylonian dialect of the Semitic language Akkadian.
