Blockchain consists of all information concerning digital transactions that are stored and even is accessible to all users. Still it is pondering that through technology, it is possible to access this database and see a digital negotiation that took place between two users (but with identity in secrecy), without geolocation restrictions, and, since everything is encrypted, is possible to know that that transaction occurred and that it is recorded. This is a component of an aggregated registration system, meaning that the data is not registered in a single location, but apportioned, divided, and separated among the several computers linked to it. The digital structure in the form of blockchains makes the technology virtually inviolable; in the face of attempted invasion, it would be necessary to obtain control of at least 51% of the nodes to effectively modify by consensus. In health, based on the availability of sensitive data from patients on a shared network, assessing all their examinations and medicos’ histories transited in a digitally safe way, as well as the exchange of experiences among doctors with studies of global diseases, forms of diagnosis, medications are most used, and treatment can be decentralized, creating big data of global health, among other information that is important to be shared, can transit with digital security via blockchain technology. Therefore, this chapter provides an updated overview of blockchain technology, also known as the trust protocol, given the digital security and reliability it provides for a network, addressing application and approaching from a succinct bibliographic background, summarizing the full potential of technology.
