A Model Design to evaluate Processes for Autonomization.

In contrast to the motivation of process improvements, many companies today face a high degree of complexity. The complexity is due to an increased dependency on partners, a rise in the amount of data and the proximity to customers. Digitalization enables companies to address this dependency but need decision-making in an even more complex environment. Processes in such environments require system designs that integrate technologies for non-deterministic solutions. These systems need to be selfdeterministic, self-organizing and interactive to realize autonomous processes. The result of this paper presents a model that supports the processes evaluation according to their degree of autonomization. Based on a Design Science Research approach with qualitative expert interviews, the structure and concepts of the model are defined. The model’s application leads to a more profound design process with more confidence about the effectiveness of decisions made in direction to autonomization.
