As road accidents grab more attention these days proposed implementation gives a solution to the problem by determining the speed of an automobile. Unlike conventional hardware-based methods such as radar guns, the proposed work comprises the automobile pace discernment based on image processing which is a real-time application. Each vehicle in the recorded video is identified, and a bounding box is created on the same. Centroid coordinates of the identified vehicle are marked to track its movement. On the other hand, the proposed implementation takes into account the techniques such as the Gaussian mixture model for foreground detection, clustering based on the density of pixel for clustering the foreground detection points, and Kalman filter for tracking the targeted automobile. The outturn of the project is a displayed video of the pace of the respective automobile between the bounded distances of ten meters in a low traffic area.
