Usually the surface being measured needs one-time process by traditional 3D scanning method, however, due to unknown morphology and boundaries, the scanning data is incomplete and the result is in-accurate,which is difficult to evaluate the measurement effectively. In this case,a 3D method based on dy-namic path planning is proposed in order to measure the surface through rough scanning and a second time scanning, aiming at the area of 3D data missing, and the reasonable scanning path can be generated automat-ically. The theory of minimum enclosing ball and the concept of visibility cone are also introduced to pro-vide data basis to planning of sample points, vision points and scanning directions. The feasibility of 3D scanning based on dynamic path planning is verified in the actual experiments of surface measurement and the scanning quality is evaluated.
