Trade-Offs and Vulnerabilities in IoT and Secure Cloud Computing

Suman De · Cybersecurity · 2021

Cloud computing and the connectivity of devices to bring together all processes from a consumer focus mindset are essential. The world is growing towards a more virtual approach to all facets of life, from the aspects of how business is done to how a person tracks and manages their assets. From the worlds of document management, to retail, social media, and business management, anything and everything that we see today is possible because of the subject that we cover in this chapter. With the dependency on the technology that defines cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), consumers face a challenge, which is the risk of security flaws. Data privacy loss, theft of Intellectual property, insecure APIs, etc., pose huge risks for organizations. It is important to look at the vulnerabilities associated with these various scenarios. In this chapter, we take a look at such vulnerabilities related to the cloud and the IoT and also explore specific recent research work done on the subject, which can act as a starting point for budding researchers and industry professionals to come up with newer techniques to address risks that can harm systems.
