Monitoring of data or information transmitted over network is becoming necessary with rapid increase in malicious intents on the global communication networks coupled with the continuous growth in size and complexity of the same. This research study presents the implementation of packet sniffer developed using python programming language to monitor the performance of the network at the users side on a campus local area network in terms of packet loss ratio or error rate. The evaluation was carried based on the model developed.
